Clinton & Russell designed The Apthorp (1908) at 2207 Broadway between West 78th and 79th Streets — the full-block Italian Renaissance Revival apartment building that established the architectural ambition of the Upper West Side luxury inventory at the turn of the 20th century. The Apthorp's interior courtyard, ornate limestone facade, and 12-foot ceilings within the residential program made it among the most coveted addresses in the city for decades. The 2008 condominium conversion preserved the building's architectural character while creating one of the rare condo-flexible options on the UWS pre-war corridor — a structural pricing advantage over peer co-op inventory in the surrounding blocks. Clinton & Russell's broader portfolio extends across the Beaux-Arts era of Manhattan commercial and residential construction.
