Devonshire House is, per Carter Horsley, "one of the most decorative pre-war apartment buildings in Greenwich Village" — and the Elizabethan-style lobby "incorporates the crest of three stags within a shield supported by two standing stags of the Duke of Devonshire" — the same crest as the Duke's Piccadilly residence. The crest's motto: "safety through caution."

The structural identity rests on three features. First, the Emery Roth architectural pedigree — Roth detailed a lobby pair of doves amid grape vines, which "represent peace and unity." Second, the 2011 condominium conversion by Sterling American Properties (Fred Wilpon) + Cheshire Group, with renovation by Alan G. Rose (ARCT Architecture) and interiors by Victoria Hagan. Third, the trophy cultural resident roster — Alec Baldwin (penthouse $11.7M October 2011; Hilaria Baldwin adjacent June 2012; added 8th-floor 2013 for $2.25M), Josh Charles (The Good Wife, $6.3M 3-bed), Amanda Seyfried.
