Data use and citation

What you may do

Under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license (CC BY 4.0), you may copy, quote, chart, adapt and republish the figures The Roebling Index publishes, including commercially, provided you credit the source as set out below. The covered figures are the medians, sale counts and price changes shown on The Roebling Index, the summary table in the downloadable CSV, and the sale-price summaries on building pages.

How to credit it

Cite as The Roebling Index, The Roebling Team at Compass, with the release month and the window you are quoting, and link to theroeblingteam.com/roebling-index. The full citation format is in the methodology. If you adapt a figure, say that you did.

What is not covered

• The underlying public records. Property transfers are recorded with the New York City Department of Finance and belong to the City. Credit the City for the source records and The Roebling Index for the figures built on them.
• Bulk copying of the building sale histories. Quoting a building’s sale figures is fine. Scraping or republishing the sale-by-sale history for the buildings on this site as a competing database is not.
• Written analysis, articles and images. The Roebling Report, building profiles and guides are copyrighted. Short quotations with a link are welcome. Please ask before republishing a full piece.
• Endorsement. Do not suggest that The Roebling Team or Compass endorses your product, service or conclusions.

What the figures are and are not

The Index reports medians of recorded sales under published rules, including known limitations (see the methodology). It is market data, not an appraisal of any property. A median for a neighborhood does not value a specific apartment.
