Upper Saddle River is a northern Bergen County residential borough, distinct from neighboring Saddle River. Its dispersed house settings and road-based access create a different search from a village organized around a train station.
History and architecture
The Hopper-Goetschius House preserves the area’s Dutch colonial farm history. Much of the later residential landscape developed as agricultural land gave way to suburban houses, with traditional styles and newer construction layered onto older roads. The historic buildings explain the origin of the place without describing the age or character of every current house.
Transit and the NYC connection
There is no commuter-rail station in the borough. NYC trips begin by road, whether continuing toward a river crossing or connecting to a nearby rail service. Route 17 and surrounding corridors are important regional references, while the local approach varies by property.

Buyers should compare the usability of the grounds, house layout and actual travel pattern. Sellers should distinguish a well-positioned property from a large house whose setting adds less value.
