Armonk Real Estate
A North Castle hamlet with a Main Street center, historic buildings and wooded residential surroundings.
Armonk offers an inland village-like center without being a railway town. Main Street and Armonk Square concentrate shops and daily activity, while surrounding roads lead to detached houses and larger residential sites. The hamlet is part of the Town of North Castle.
History and architecture
Smith’s Tavern and the Bedford Road Historic District preserve the older crossroads settlement. Later residential and corporate development added a different scale, including IBM’s campus. The architectural record is not exclusively traditional: the Witthoefft House is a notable modernist landmark within the wider Armonk setting.
Transit and the NYC connection
There is no Metro-North station in Armonk. The city connection generally includes a drive to the Harlem Line or a road journey toward NYC. North White Plains and other surrounding stations should be compared from the actual property rather than treated as equivalent starting points.
The property market
Armonk is useful for buyers who want a defined local center with a more separated house setting. The balance between access to Main Street and the privacy of the site should guide the search. For sellers, the property’s architectural character and relationship to the center are more useful than a broad northern-Westchester label.
Property tax
About 1.79% of the purchase price a year: roughly $35,900 on a $2M house, within a range of $28,700 to $43,100.

A sale does not reset the assessment here, so the seller’s current bill is the number to underwrite. Ask for it, and check for exemptions (STAR, senior, veteran) that will not transfer.
