Scarsdale Real Estate
A Tudor Revival village center, established residential neighborhoods and Harlem Line access to Manhattan.
Scarsdale’s center makes its identity clear: steep roofs, half-timbered facades and shops grouped around the railroad. Beyond it, residential neighborhoods offer different combinations of older houses, gardens and proximity to the station. The village-center setting and the larger residential properties belong to the same market, but they are not the same purchase.
History and architecture
The railroad reached Scarsdale in the nineteenth century, helping turn farmland and country estates into a commuter suburb. In the 1920s, local business leaders developed the center in the Tudor Revival style. That architecture sits alongside the houses produced as farms and estates were divided into neighborhoods, with later construction adding different sizes and layouts.
Transit and the NYC connection
Scarsdale station is on Metro-North’s Harlem Line to Grand Central. A station-area search differs from one focused on the more distant residential streets. For a Manhattan or Brooklyn move, the final journey beyond Grand Central belongs in the comparison as well.
The property market
Scarsdale is particularly useful for buyers who want a defined center without giving up a detached house. Architectural condition, the setting and the relationship to town should guide the comparable set. The Roebling Team can start with the NYC apartment’s value and closing costs, or with an NYC purchase plan for an owner moving in the opposite direction.
Property tax
About 1.94% of the purchase price a year: roughly $38,900 on a $2M house, within a range of $33,100 to $44,700.

A sale does not reset the assessment here, so the seller’s current bill is the number to underwrite. Ask for it, and check for exemptions (STAR, senior, veteran) that will not transfer.
