Why Galen Drive West matters
Galen Drive West is a 1969 garden-scale condominium of three stories, with small one- and two-bedroom plans, a pool and a clubhouse, in the middle of the island and not on the oceanfront.
Key Biscayne and Galen Drive
Key Biscayne sits between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic, south of Virginia Key, with Crandon Park and Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park at its two ends. The commercial center is the Village Green area on Crandon Boulevard and Galen Drive is in the island's central residential grid. The beaches and parks are nearby, and Brickell and Downtown are a drive over the causeway.
The building is not gated, and it is not on the ocean. Distance to the beach and the bay for a given residence should be checked on a map.
Architecture and unit composition
The building is three stories with an elevator. One-bedroom residences run about 690 to 730 square feet and two-bedroom residences about 925 to 1,045 square feet. Ask for the association's size schedule.
Building operations
Ask about the management model, staffing, reserves and the operating budget. Florida's milestone inspection and structural integrity reserve study rules apply to condominium buildings of three or more stories; ask for the inspection report, the reserve study and any assessment history. This building has three. Also ask for the flood zone and elevation certificate, and the insurance cost.
Policy framework
Pet, rental and minimum-lease rules are set by the association; confirm at offer stage.
Sales context
One recorded sale, March 2026, at $480,000. It is one sale, not a building price.
Unit-level transaction history is maintained in The Roebling Research Library and shared with clients during diligence.
What to know if you're buying at Galen Drive West
Read the inspection report and reserve study. Ask for the assessment history and any planned work.
Price insurance and flood exposure. Get quotes before the offer, not after.
Get the leasing rules. Ask the association for them in writing.
What to know if you're selling at Galen Drive West
Price against the plan type. One- and two-bedroom residences trade on different bases.
Have the documents ready. Budget, reserve study, inspection report and insurance cost shorten diligence.

Recorded sales history
Recorded transfers for this building in Miami-Dade County public records, back to Jan 1974. Prices reflect the recorded consideration; transfers the Property Appraiser does not qualify as arms-length are shown unmarked. Nominal-consideration paper transfers (deeds into trusts and LLCs, estate and family transfers, corrective deeds) are part of the record but not sales, and are omitted from this table. Recording lags closing, so the newest sales can take several weeks to appear.
