Own an apartment here? See what it would sell for.

A Private Pricing Opinion — what your apartment at 214 West 17th Street would likely sell for today, what it costs to sell, and what you’d walk away with — reviewed personally against condition, exposures, renovation quality, and the competition actually on the market.

This fifty-foot-wide Chelsea building contains large loft apartments on a six-story scale. Its layouts include one-level homes, lower duplexes and combined floors. Broad north-and-south rooms, high ceilings and surviving brick distinguish the interiors, while a keyed elevator provides access through semi-private landings.

Architecture and unit composition

A recurring loft configuration is approximately 1,840 square feet, with two or three bedrooms arranged around a large living-and-dining area. North-and-south exposure allows the living spaces and bedrooms to face opposite sides of the building. Ceilings around ten feet high and wood-burning fireplaces appear in these homes.

Larger lower duplexes approach 2,800 square feet. Their upper level contains the principal living room and kitchen, while internal stairs lead to additional lower-level rooms. Combined apartments can exceed 4,000 square feet, substantially expanding the living and sleeping areas beyond the recurring loft plan.

The interiors have changed through individual renovations. Open kitchens, exposed brick, private laundry and central air conditioning occur in the inventory, but the building does not have one shared interior specification. Some duplexes contain storage lofts above secondary rooms, adding another level within an already layered plan.

Building operations

The cooperative has an elevator, voice intercom and common roof deck. The elevator is key-controlled at the residential landing. Private washers and dryers in the larger apartments reduce dependence on shared laundry facilities.

The large spread in apartment size matters to the ownership structure: a modestly sized home, a lower duplex and a combined full floor occupy very different portions of the same small building. Share allocations and maintenance obligations follow the particular cooperative interest being purchased.

Sales sourced from NYC Department of Finance recorded transfers (BBL 1-00766-0053) and verified listing data. Apartment-level facts (line, condition, asking-price context) curated and cross-verified by The Roebling Team research desk. Not all transactions cross-verify with ACRIS records — sponsor and LLC purchases sometimes record at stipulated values rather than market price; square footage on co-ops is not officially recorded, figures shown are approximate.

What to know if you’re buying

Lower-level space needs its own room description. The duplex homes have been arranged with media rooms and other enclosed rooms below the main living floor. The legal use of those lower rooms matters to bedroom count and usable living area; a large combined floor-area figure does not by itself establish additional legal bedrooms.

Preparing a board package for this building?

The full playbook — what goes in the package, how boards read your financials, the interview, and the timeline — plus sample cover, reference, and personal letters you can adapt.

How to read the facts on this page. Items attributed to an offering plan describe the building as it was offered at that filing — unit mix, square footage, the amenity program as planned. They are not a statement about how the building operates today. Tax and compliance figures are sourced separately to current City records and carry their own dates. House rules, staffing and fee policy can change by board resolution without any public filing: treat every policy line here as a starting point for diligence and confirm it with the managing agent. Where this page compares one building or neighborhood to another, that is our analysis of the recorded record — it names the measure, the period and the sample it rests on, and it is an observation about medians rather than a prediction about any particular apartment.
