Own an apartment here? See what it would sell for.

A Private Pricing Opinion — what your apartment at 430 Sterling Place would likely sell for today, what it costs to sell, and what you’d walk away with — reviewed personally against condition, exposures, renovation quality, and the competition actually on the market.

430 Sterling Place is one of a pair of Renaissance Revival flats buildings constructed around 1908–1911. Its limestone basement, rusticated brick upper floors and carved entrance panels preserve the architecture of an early twentieth-century apartment house. Cooperative ownership encompasses both this building and the adjoining property at 426 Sterling Place.

The 16 apartments at this address include conventional one- and two-bedroom plans, larger lower-floor homes and top-floor apartments with roof access. It stands within the Prospect Heights Historic District, several blocks north of the Brooklyn Museum and Eastern Parkway.

Architecture and unit composition

LPC identifies the two buildings as an identical pair, with five bays at the basement and first story and six bays above. Shallow facade projections group the windows. Upper end bays have paired openings, including round arches at the third story, while elaborate urn carvings appear beside the recessed entrances and on upper-floor panels.

The original roof treatment included molded terra-cotta cornices and open parapets. Those features were altered after about 1940; the current parapets are stuccoed. Historic iron fire escapes remain part of the facade composition.

Inside, the inventory includes high ceilings, exposed brick and varied room arrangements. Some top-floor homes have lofted areas and direct access to private rooftop space. Lower-floor apartments can have larger interiors and more than one bathroom. Roof rights are therefore associated with particular homes, alongside a shared roof amenity.

Building operations

The cooperative provides laundry facilities, basement storage and bicycle storage. Entry uses a voice intercom. The two-building ownership structure is material: a purchaser joins the broader cooperative corporation, even though this profile's count and sales concern the 430 address.

There is no building-level tax abatement. The existing floor area exceeds the R6B residential allowance, and exterior work also falls under LPC review. The carved entrance surrounds, masonry and roofline are part of the designated exterior.

Sales sourced from NYC Department of Finance recorded transfers (BBL 3-01173-0040) and verified listing data. Apartment-level facts (line, condition, asking-price context) curated and cross-verified by The Roebling Team research desk. Not all transactions cross-verify with ACRIS records — sponsor and LLC purchases sometimes record at stipulated values rather than market price; square footage on co-ops is not officially recorded, figures shown are approximate.

Preparing a board package for this building?

The full playbook — what goes in the package, how boards read your financials, the interview, and the timeline — plus sample cover, reference, and personal letters you can adapt.

How to read the facts on this page. Items attributed to an offering plan describe the building as it was offered at that filing — unit mix, square footage, the amenity program as planned. They are not a statement about how the building operates today. Tax and compliance figures are sourced separately to current City records and carry their own dates. House rules, staffing and fee policy can change by board resolution without any public filing: treat every policy line here as a starting point for diligence and confirm it with the managing agent. Where this page compares one building or neighborhood to another, that is our analysis of the recorded record — it names the measure, the period and the sample it rests on, and it is an observation about medians rather than a prediction about any particular apartment.
