About the building
5 East 75th Street was built in 1901–02 as a speculative mansion for William Hall's Sons. Welch, Smith & Provot designed the limestone Beaux-Arts house, which retains a formal street presence close to Fifth Avenue. Its conversion divided a large private residence into eight cooperative apartments. An elevator serves the six-story building, and portions of the original staircase and elaborate interior woodwork survive.
The apartments include single-level homes and duplexes, ranging from one-bedroom layouts to larger residences with distinct living and sleeping floors. High ceilings, oversized windows, carved wood details and wood-burning fireplaces distinguish selected interiors. Private terraces and a duplex penthouse with roof-garden space add outdoor configurations above the main facade. Some upper exposures take in Central Park, with the view determined by the residence's floor and position.

Sales sourced from NYC Department of Finance recorded transfers (BBL 1-01390-0008) and verified listing data. Apartment-level facts (line, condition, asking-price context) curated and cross-verified by The Roebling Team research desk. Not all transactions cross-verify with ACRIS records — sponsor and LLC purchases sometimes record at stipulated values rather than market price; square footage on co-ops is not officially recorded, figures shown are approximate.

What to know if you’re buying
The mansion's vertical layout creates different access patterns. Elevator service reaches the building's residential floors, but a duplex or roof-garden home also contains internal stairs. The usable relationship between the principal rooms and outdoor space depends on that internal route, especially where living rooms and bedrooms occupy different levels.

How to read the facts on this page. Items attributed to an offering plan describe the building as it was offered at that filing — unit mix, square footage, the amenity program as planned. They are not a statement about how the building operates today. Tax and compliance figures are sourced separately to current City records and carry their own dates. House rules, staffing and fee policy can change by board resolution without any public filing: treat every policy line here as a starting point for diligence and confirm it with the managing agent. Where this page compares one building or neighborhood to another, that is our analysis of the recorded record — it names the measure, the period and the sample it rests on, and it is an observation about medians rather than a prediction about any particular apartment.
