Biography

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects (founded 1977 by Cesar Pelli) designed One Beacon Court (2004), the 55-story Bloomberg headquarters tower at 151 East 58th Street that houses 105 residential condominiums above the office and retail base. The building's curved curtain wall and the central plaza at street level were among the more architecturally ambitious mixed-use commissions of the early 2000s, and the residential apartments on the upper floors produced one of the more distinct condominium offerings in the Plaza District during that cycle. Cesar Pelli's broader portfolio includes the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur (the tallest buildings in the world at completion in 1998), the World Financial Center (now Brookfield Place) in Manhattan, and significant cultural and commercial commissions globally; the firm's name evolved to include sons Rafael and Fred Clarke through the late 20th century.
