About the building
223 West 19th Street combines an older commercial base with a residential addition completed around the turn of the millennium. The redevelopment retained the original three-story structure and added upper levels, creating a five-residence condominium above two commercial floors. PLUTO dates the original building to 1900. The result is an eight-story property with a much smaller residential association than its height might suggest. Its position between Seventh and Eighth avenues places the entrance on a Chelsea side street.
Four full-floor lofts occupy the middle of the building, with a triplex penthouse above. Keyed elevator access opens into the residential floors. The lofts have broad living areas, ceilings of approximately ten feet and separate bedroom zones; central air conditioning serves the interiors. The penthouse extends across three levels and includes two private terraces. The internal stairs and outdoor areas make that home a different physical configuration from the single-level lofts below.

What to know if you’re buying
Five homes share an elevator building with two commercial floors. The condominium's allocation of elevator, insurance and other common costs between residential and commercial ownership is material to the monthly budget. A lender evaluating this small mixed-use project may also review the commercial component separately from the apartment being financed.

How to read the facts on this page. Items attributed to an offering plan describe the building as it was offered at that filing — unit mix, square footage, the amenity program as planned. They are not a statement about how the building operates today. Tax and compliance figures are sourced separately to current City records and carry their own dates. House rules, staffing and fee policy can change by board resolution without any public filing: treat every policy line here as a starting point for diligence and confirm it with the managing agent. Where this page compares one building or neighborhood to another, that is our analysis of the recorded record — it names the measure, the period and the sample it rests on, and it is an observation about medians rather than a prediction about any particular apartment.
