Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club Community Guide

Explore Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in east Boca Raton, from waterfront and golf settings to its 1959 origins, marina and separate private membership.

The Roebling Research Desk · October 2026

Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club brings golf and a marina into an established east Boca Raton residential setting. Its geography is central to its identity: the community developed between Federal Highway, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Hillsboro River and the property now known as The Boca Raton. A home here can have a very different relationship to water, golf and the street depending on its particular site.

The residential neighborhood and private club need to be considered separately. Club membership is by invitation, and owning a house does not itself establish admission or access to the facilities.

A neighborhood with a long development history

Arthur Vining Davis selected this land for the Royal Palm development in the late 1950s. The club opened in 1959, with Robert Trent Jones Sr. responsible for the original course and Sam Snead serving as its first golf professional. Jack Nicklaus and his team later redesigned the course; the club identifies 2024 as the most recent full renovation.

That history gives the neighborhood a different starting point from a newly released builder community. There is no single current model range that explains every property. The useful comparison is between individual sites and houses: the relationship of the living rooms to the grounds, the distribution of bedrooms and the extent to which a residence has been rebuilt or altered.

For a waterfront property, compare the usable dock arrangement and navigational requirements with the boat you intend to keep. Water frontage, a marina nearby and an actual right to use a particular slip are different attributes. For a golf-facing property, consider the terrace's exposure to play and maintenance activity as carefully as the length of the view.

Golf and marina life

The club's 60-slip marina and two clubhouses give Royal Palm a maritime component alongside its 18-hole golf program. Dining settings include waterside rooms at the Yacht Club and spaces overlooking the course at the Country Club. Tennis, pickleball, croquet, bocce, fitness and swimming broaden the ways members use the property.

The club has also outlined further capital work. A June 2026 board communication described greens reconstruction planned for April 2027 and a proposed racquets and croquet reconfiguration, with scope, costs and member votes still to follow. These are planning statements, not a confirmation that the work or a particular assessment has been approved. A prospective member should obtain the latest project and access schedule before relying on uninterrupted use.

Evaluating the house and the club

A home search should establish the house's physical condition and approval history independently from the club application. For a substantial renovation, the location of structural walls, ceiling heights, mechanical systems and outdoor setbacks can be more consequential than the condition of decorative finishes.

Request the neighborhood's current association obligations and the club's applicable membership category separately. Initiation, recurring dues, capital charges, dining and marina arrangements need their own line items. The club's invitation process also permits nonresidents to be considered, so residence and membership should never be treated as interchangeable.

Useful comparisons

St. Andrews Country Club offers an inland custom-home setting with two golf courses. Woodfield Country Club has a larger collection of distinct residential villages. The Boca Raton guide places these choices within the wider coastal and inland market.
